Welcome to XTERRA Charlottesville at Walnut Creek Park. Come get Down and Dirty!
The community of North Garden, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and just a ten minute, scenic drive outside of the City of Charlottesville, welcomes you to a mountain bikers and trail runners playground with over twelve miles of epic singletrack surrounding a scenic lake at Walnut Creek Park. With the trails balanced with everything you expect from East Coast terrain, including roller coaster twisty turns, a couple challenging climbs, typically shallow creek crossings, rock gardens and enough natural obstacles in between, you will not want to miss this amazing XTERRA venue! For those starting out, the sprint athletes will do one loop and the more experienced XTERRA athletes will do two loops.
Late August, in the little mountains of Virginia is typically serene with occasional cooler mornings indicating fall is around the corner. It is also a great place to bring the family for the day with its 18-hole frisbee golf course, a wide, lakefront beach, picnic tables plus grills, and a new playground for the younger kids.
From over twenty-three vineyards, including Wisdom Oaks Winery just a quarter mile south from the park entrance, Thomas Jeffersons home, Monticello, strolling through the University of Virginia grounds or the outdoor downtown mall, to a romantic evening dining or listening to a wide selection of live music, there is a vast array of experiences awaiting you in the area. Come race XTERRA Charlottesville or the Walnut Creek Sprint Off-Road Tri and immerse yourself in the Virginia experience!
